One day God grew weary of people arguing about what he was like and whether he existed at all and so he decided to escape for a while and hop off to Jupiter for a weekend break. He packed his things and upped and offed. He had a wonderful time exploring and appreciating the space and time away from the usual pressures.
Meanwhile on Earth things took a strange turn. All those people, and there were many, who did so many small things each day to help one another, lost all their focus and motivation, and all patience and caring and perseverance seemed to go out the window. The reserves of faith, hope and love suddenly ran dry, and a mist of confusion and despair sped across the globe.
When God returned on Monday, revived and ready for a new week, he opened his case and unpacked his things again. Faith, hope, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
And the world woke up once more.
Acts 17 v 28 – ‘In him we live and move and have our being.’
