Disarming

Christmas disarms us,
God comes close with tiny fingers,
Hands that are smaller than ours,
Eyes wider, blinking and shining.
A look of wonder and curiosity,
A cry for help and feeding and changing,
Legs kicking before he can walk,
Arms waving before he has learnt to embrace.
A God that cannot hurt us,
Cannot strike us with thunder or lightning,
A God who draws us close and reaches for us.

If you've appreciated this, why not...
