You are invited to come through the cross,
With your awkwardness and inability,
With your competence and aptitude,
Towards the dawn of a resurrection,
And the promise of a new kingdom.
And in coming through the cross
You and I are marked by it,
The marks of a saviour who weakened himself,
A God who chose the way of execution,
The way of a criminal, misunderstood and punished.
And as we come through his cross,
Towards that dawn, we come as we are,
Not as we would like to be.
Human, raw, flawed and foibled by life.
Not heroes with capes and the ability to fly,
But taking muddy, stumbling steps, one at a time.

If you've appreciated this, why not...
