Ordinary

If only we can save ourselves from slipping into spiritual mode,
Realising that all our life is found in you,
When we pray, when we open our bible,
We do these things as the same faithful,
Wandering, mushed and muddled people,
The same people who do everything else in life.
The wonder of your coming into this world,
Means that we can bring all of our worlds to you,
It’s all we have, our raw, cluttered, hopeful state.
And you are well used to people like us.
So save us please from separating our lives
Into the spiritual and the normal,
And let our ordinary lives be our offering,
Our living sacrifice to you.
The one who understands everything.

If you've appreciated this, why not...
