Travelling
Lord Jesus you have travelled so many roads in this world,
You travelled the way of adulation and success,
Feeding thousands who wanted to make you king.
You travelled the way of poverty and need,
Growing up under oppression in a poor family,
You travelled the way of joy and laughter,
Seeing wonder and healing hope break across the lives of others,
You travelled the way of trouble and misunderstanding,
Facing conflict and pressure each day from friends and enemies.
You travelled the way of temptation and distraction,
Hearing the voices that called you to take the wrong way,
And you travelled the way of sacrifice and suffering,
That Calvary road to the hill of crosses and death.
And you travelled the way of surprises and twists,
When you reappeared on that resurrection Sunday.
Whatever this next day holds, this next hour,
This next year, this next minute,
Please travel through it with us.
‘Yet I still belong to you;
you are holding my right hand.’
Psalm 73 v 23
Peace
Lord you have placed a longing for peace in our hearts,
A longing for harmony in our spirits,
And so, in a world which is often unsettled…
When turmoil derails us,
Show us the meaning of peace.
When anger upsets us,
Show us the meaning of peace.
When the unexpected comes our way,
Show us the meaning of peace.
When others are hurtful,
Show us the meaning of peace.
And may we be bringers of peace
For those who need it.
Blessed are the peacemakers. Matthew 5 v 9
