The Slow Moving Ship – a parable

When they first set sail it had seemed like a dream come true.
A ship to freedom, a journey of hope.
A means of heading in the right direction.
But then the truth dawned. The ship was moving slowly.
Very slowly indeed.
It would take an awful long time to reach its destination.
1000 years perhaps.
And as this truth dawned so people wanted to get off.
But they had begun and needed to stay with it.
Where else could they go, out there in the ocean of life.
Vast, beautiful, but at times monotonous and out of their control.
So some continued to complain and wrestle.
Some resigned themselves to the waiting.
And some embraced a whole new way of living.

If you've appreciated this, why not...
