It’s a time for a jolly red man in the sky,
Days of shopping and decorations up high,
Choirs of angels and carols and songs.
Tills jangling and queues that snake so long.
But we may also feel alone at this time,
As the streets bustle and bells chime.
And for many that’s a purpose, a hope, a reason,
To look to the one at the heart of the season.
The saviour who came for those on the edge,
For those stuck on the thin end of life’s wedge.
However we find ourselves, one thing is clear,
There’s a God who’s come close, a saviour who’s near.
‘A child is born, a son is given to us.’ Isaiah 9 v 6
