Lyrical Riffs There are times when I feel empty
and sometimes it’s a ‘good’ kind of empty.
I know that on my own I am not enough,
I know that I’m ready to be refilled by you,
to be replenished, uplifted and revived.
But there are many times when it’s a difficult kind of empty,
when I want to be powerful,
when I want to be strong,
when I want to have all the answers,
when I don’t want to feel like I’m a person in need.
When empty feels like an enemy.
You know about these things, you understand,
you made yourself empty for us,
you let go of all that was powerful and strong,
in order that through your weakness
our lives could be forever different.
So help us Lord, we pray.
Prayer
Lord, we think of the empty spaces in our lives,
The places of loss and longing and pain,
And we offer them to you and ask for your help
And a way forward.
Lord we think of the empty spaces of this world,
The lands where war and trouble and disease
Have stolen away all fullness of life,
We bring these places to you with our longings for peace,
And the healing of the nations.
Lord we think of the empty spaces in
the lives of those we know and love,
And we offer you our hopes and longings
for our communities and families,
Please refresh and revive our nation and our neighbourhoods,
And may we find our fulfilment in you.
