Lord you know us well,
You know what we’re really thinking,
You know when we are doubtful, faithful,
When we’re joyful, enraptured, angry or heartbroken,
You can well cope with this, and you would rather we bring our true selves.
Not some shiny shallow version of who we are.
In the psalms we find folks who say it like it is,
That you are God and we are not,
That you are faithful and we often wander,
That you are peace and love and we are often angry…
Frightened, questioning, weary and stressed.
And that often when we express that, getting it out of our system,
It can then lead us back to honouring you,
To reminding ourselves of your strength and beauty,
Your justice and kindness and faithfulness.
We b ambushed by life and feel many things,
But you are our God and we can worship you
With the gloves off and the shiny coating washed away,
We can honour you and know you in spirit and in truth.
Thank you.
They worshipped him but some of them doubted.
