Happiness and Gratification went for a walk one day.
Happiness had to keep pausing and waiting along the way.
Gratification took detours, saw something and went,
Always came back disappointed and spent.
For happiness the pauses gave time to ponder,
To soak up life, to look and wonder,
No time for that for gratification,
No such desire or inclination,
As it flitted and sped after every bright thing,
Though every quick fix left it still wanting.
Happiness spots what Gratification can’t see,
I know this because they both live in me.
If you've appreciated this, why not...
