Once in a garden, in a deep dark wood,
God came looking but it seemed he could
Not find his friends, they were hidden away,
Something bad had happened that day.
When they appeared, they were clutching parts
Of their bodies, and not their thumbs or hearts.
Or their head or shoulder or knee or toe,
They were hiding the bits they didn’t want to show.
No longer covered in the glory of God,
Adam and Eve felt naked and odd.
Centuries later God himself hid away.
On one bright startling sunny day.
People came looking – so where was he?
He was hiding in the bushes waiting to see
If they’d take time to spot the one
Who’d no doubt surprise them from now on.
Walking through walls and coming in disguise,
With a resurrection smile behind his eyes.
So whether the day is foul or fair,
Whether we’re happy or full of care,
In public or hiding, with a smile or a stare,
Lookout for the God who’ll surely be there.
If you've appreciated this, why not...
