Film Friday ‘Truth is like a blanket that leaves your feet cold.’
So says Todd in his poem in the film Dead Poets Society.
A little different from Jesus’s promise that truth will set you free.
So what’s the difference?
Sometimes truth on its own can come to us as a kind of putdown.
Harsh, demeaning, cold and brittle.
But we’re told in John chapter 1 that Jesus came full of truth AND GRACE.
That’s what we need – reality and compassion.
Truth shot through with grace full of caring and understanding.
Jesus always has time for us.
And his truth comes into our lives overflowing with transformative grace and acceptance.
