There’s corruption in my head pretending to be holy,
Urging me to rush when I could be going slowly,
My phone is a weapon of mass distraction,
A hailstorm of adverts steals the satisfaction.
Life gets lost, buried in the rubble,
Of what’s ifs, maybes and all the stress and trouble.
Peace is elusive, like a slimy bar of soap,
Despair is a terrorist seizing all our hope.
To pause, to breathe, to dare to hit the brake,
To know what is real and what is truly fake,
To know I’m not God, and surrender control,
Letting fragments of stillness permeate my soul.
If you've appreciated this, why not...
