Shopping can’t save us,
The adverts can’t save us,
Movies can’t save us,
Fashion can’t save us,
Sport can’t save us,
Box sets can’t save us,
Politicians can’t save us,
Money can’t save us,
Sex can’t save us,
Neither can power, looks or popularity.
Oh dear. How miserable is this?
Who can rescue us from our inevitable mess?
Thanks be to the One who made everything,
And to the One he sent,
Who turned up because we tried everything,
And nothing else could save us.
In Him we exist, in Him we are rescued,
In Him we begin again.
