Monday Rewrite: Keeping Going (A Prayer)

Lord so many have served you down the years –
Standing tall, taking risks, their heads above life’s parapet.
Some trusted and saw miracles,
Some trusted and gave everything for you.
Moses, Gideon, Ruth, David, Esther, Samuel, Hannah and so many more.
Help us remember them when we struggle to keep going.

Lord so many have served you down the years –
And so many continue to serve you today,
Some seeing miracles, some giving everything for you.
Some we hear about, so many we’ll never know.
Help us remember them when we struggle to keep going.

Lord so many have served you down the years –
They saw in part, as we do, catching divine glimpses.
Seeing the future as if through a dusty window.
They waited and prayed, as we all wait and pray,
For the peace, the harmony and the fulfilment of your kingdom.
Help us remember them when we struggle to keep going.

Lord so many have served you down the years –
Running the race, that requires dedication, faith and courage.
Thank you for calling us to follow in their footsteps,
To run for the prize only found in you.
Help us remember them when we struggle to keep going.
