Our Christmas journeys may be
Stressful and difficult and demanding,
Whether trekking to a far destination
Or simply making it through the season,
Taking tough steps among the glitter and tinsel.
The season can be a time of hard travelling.
Heavily pregnant and 100 miles
From Nazareth to Bethlehem;
Strange men bursting in on the intimacy of birth;
Dreams about treachery and terror;
The flight of 400 miles to another border.
Strangeness, pressure and trouble,
Amongst the stars and dreams, hope and angels.
We stand on the border of another year,
The journey may look oddly familiar
Or strange, unknown and epic.
But we are offered an understanding hand,
By one who has lived his own difficult days
And carries a light for the path.
If you've appreciated this, why not...
