The Joy of the Lord is our strength.
Passed on in a smile, a kind word, a text, a call.
In the midst of our fears and fretting.
Sometimes framed in a conversation,
Sometimes wordless, a quiet lifting of our spirits.
The Joy of the Lord is our strength.
Not so much dependant on logic.
On headlines, popularity or achievements.
Not about empty laughter or cynicism.
But a gifted moment, a shared insight.
The Joy of the Lord is your strength.
Wonder, awe, a sense of our small
Yet precious place in the grand scheme.
The smile of God that warms our being,
Quietens our hearts, reinforces our resolve.
The Joy of the Lord is our strength.
Making light of our sometimes vain notions,
Tipping logic on its head.
Coming through the cracks of shared compassion,
Precious, and beyond reasoning and ability.
The Joy, the Presence, the Kindness of God,
Is our strength.
May it be so today.
