Treats us harshly,
Disappoints and discourages.
You understand that.
You know how it works,
What can happen,
What can hurt us.
You were ambushed too,
Conflict, disaster,
The unexpected,
Frustrations and fears,
These things came at you too.
Wore you down,
Hurt you,
Made you want to throw in the towel
And give up.
But you didn’t.
For me and for us and for them,
You kept going.
So you understand,
