Wednesday Riff: Smile

Save us from the stones of false guilt,

From the rocks of harsh judgement,

The fingers so quick to point and accuse,

The flinty words of insult and criticism.

Save us from the stones we manufacture,

The rocky burdens we pile on ourselves,

Our inability to say, ‘I don’t condemn.’

The skill to swiftly knock ourselves down.

Saves us with your smiling words of life,

Open up that new door, that way forward,

The avenue of forgiveness and mercy,

The path of letting go and moving on.

Smile on us, please,

Save us from ourselves and others,

When we reach for the rocks of blame

Once more.

If you've appreciated this, why not...
