When control is the order of the day,
When success impresses.
Not easy to be vulnerable
When the world might not understand.
When aspirational veneers are safer,
When wholehearted openness is frowned upon.
Not easy to be vulnerable
When the world might want to prove itself,
By pointing out the errors and blunders,
And the mistakes which dog us all.
In a time of being vulnerable
Other things rise to the surface,
Humanity lifts its head and smiles,
Life takes a whole new shape,
As priorities shift, and horizons change.
In a time of being vulnerable
We find new songs to sing,
New things to do,
Fresh stories to tell,
And new lives to live.
