Wednesday Riff: Pilgrimage

As we make our bumbling pilgrimage through another day,

Please help us to keep in mind that

You are the way, the truth, and the life.

As we make decisions and relate to others,

As we seek to live creatively,

Rather than destructively,

Hopefully rather than cynically,

Help us to take courage from you,

The way, the truth, and the life.

As we make our pilgrimage through another day

And the unexpected knocks us down,

Blows us around, has us climbing the walls,

Help us to seek solace in you,

The way, the truth, and the life.

As we make our pilgrimage through another day,

With its wonders and struggles,

Its work, rest, and play,

Questions, arguments, and doubts,

Help us to hold onto you,

The way, the truth, and the life.

Help us to remember that

You have walked this way before,

Wrestled with the everyday questions,

And faced the onslaught of normal reality.

So please fill us with your spirit of hope,

Kindness, purpose, strength, and imagination,

As we make our bumbling pilgrimage through another day.

If you've appreciated this, why not...
