Wednesday Riff: Remnants

Bits and pieces of another world,

Glimpses and snatches of something ‘other’,

Like looking through a dirty window,

Through the smudges and smears,

To a paradise beyond.

As if this place were once quite different,

As if we could once fly but now walk,

As if we were once the stars,

But now barely make the supporting cast,

As if we once shone brightly,

But now flicker intermittently.

Diamonds feeling a little more like coal.

Remnants of ourselves, of a former glory,

Our dearest hopes and dreams

Ponting us towards a ‘one-day ’ life of

Mercy. Truth. Justice. Peace. Kindness. For all.

Sometimes seemingly impossible

In this shambolic life,

Yet no vain hope, a better day.

If you've appreciated this, why not...
