Wednesday Riff: Gratitude

If you had not entrusted yourself to us,

Where would we be, I wonder.

If you had not entrusted yourself

To that young poor couple in Bethlehem,

If you had not chosen to walk those streets

Of oppression, loneliness, fear, and hardship,

If you had not chosen the way of service

Of washing feet, healing hearts and sacrifice,

Where would we be, I wonder.

If you had not set aside the glories of heaven,

And chosen to walk the gutters and side streets,

The wide roads and narrow alleys of this world,

If you had not set aside the glories of heaven,

And chosen to walk the gutters and side streets,

The wide roads and narrow alleys,

Of my heart and mind and soul and will,

If you had not entrusted yourself to us,

With understanding and compassion in both hands,

Then where would we be, I wonder?

Where would I be? Thank you.

If you've appreciated this, why not...
