Wednesday Riff: Mountains

I climb one mountain,
Convinced that I’ve made it to the top,
Only to discover there is another peak up ahead,
Another climb, another challenge.
And so we climb on, at times inspired,
On other days weary and worn.
One mountain after another,
Hoping this next one will be the last,
But another awaits, drawing strength from us,
Shaping character, and changing the view,
Instilling perseverance and generating sweat.
One day though there will be a last mountain:
A final peak and the climbing will be done.
And the view ahead will be perfect,
And the new land before us will be one of peace,
Colour, beauty, exhilaration and wonder,
Stretching forever, into a new country.

If you've appreciated this, why not...
