A little child born in the night,
A little child without wealth and privilege,
A little child birthed in straw and danger,
A little child from an unexpected place,
Arriving in an unexpected way.
A little child for the small people,
A little child born far from home,
A little child rather than a mighty warrior,
A little child to soften our hearts and open our minds.
A little child to upend our expectations,
A little child with a big heart,
A little child who will one day rule forever,
A little child who will grow up
And give everything for this battered world,
A little child for those who long for hope,
A little child called Jesus.
