Hold On

May we hold on to love and loyalty,
Tuck them safely into our being.
May we hunt for wisdom, chase it down the years,
Not setting our own ideas as our rock of salvation.
Let us build on a better base,
And cherish the promises of heaven,
Though they may seem distant and hazy now,
They have no sell-by date,
They last and do not fall apart.
God’s word has no built-in obsolescence,
It is a road that never grows potholed.
There’s a big picture here,
A diamond narrative of eternal hope,
A gift greater than fear and misunderstanding,
A kindness that leads us over the mountains,
And through the valleys and shaded gloom,
A reason for going on.
