Leaving

He is doing the unthinkable,
the unimaginable.
Going away so he can be closer to us,
leaving so he can be always here.
They see him slipping away from them,
and their hearts must have been heavy,
their minds spinning with confusion.
He had only just won one victory,
only just returned to them, now he was leaving again.
But this victory would only expand on the last one,
his resurrection presence now released across the globe,
he went away, so that he could be with us now.
In the darkness, and in the loneliness,
in the laughter and in the moments of peace.
His forever presence here to guide and strengthen,
to bring truth and sense amidst the madness,
purpose in a directionless world.
He went away, so that he could be with us now.
‘I promise you that it is best for you that I go away,
because if I don’t, the Helper won’t come.

If I do go away, then I will send him to you.’ John 16 v 7
Now nothing can separate us from the love of God in Jesus. Romans 8 v 38-39
