This funny action movie sees 93-year-old Thelma (played by 94-year-old June Squibb) go chasing after justice when she is scammed out of $10,000. She and her old friend Ben board his mobility scooter and hunt down the baddies. She also enlists the help of her grandson Danny, and in a warm and touching moment the young man looks at her and tells Thelma that he wants her to know he loves her. He wants her to know it in that moment, while they are both still around to appreciate each other.
Telling others that they are precious to us is not easy, we fear looking silly or small, or perhaps being rejected, but it’s often said that we should express our love for others while they are around to appreciate it.
A scribbled message, a text, an email, a tweet, a call, Morse code (!), or a spoken word… all these things can be useful and uplifting ways of encouraging another. I’m always so grateful when someone takes time to message a few words of gratitude and appreciation.
Offering a smile of warmth in a few words is always worth it, and never overlooked by our father in heaven.
If you've appreciated this, why not...
