You fed them, told them gripping stories,
Shared your life with them,
And yet they turned and walked away,
Left you, abandoned you.
And you understood.
You know how hard this road is,
And you were never going to promise

So you fed them, told them life-giving stories,
Gave yourself to sustain them,
And explained that following you is not easy.
And they turned and walked away.
You know what it is to be rejected,
To be misunderstood.
