And invited him, outspoken, impetuous,
Putting his foot in his mouth,
And you filled him and his personality,
With your presence,
So that this forthright figure
Was unafraid to stand up and speak up
On the day the church was born.
The sinking stone had become the rock,
Not because you changed him and made him unrecognisable,
But because you took all he was and added
Your life and your possibilities,
And enabled your spirit to spill out
Through his personality to others.
Take us, the people you have designed,
