I lay this day before you,
May it be under you hand,
And under your protection,
Under your guidance and care.
Filled with your light and love,
With moments of your whispers and nudges,
May it be laced with your spontaneity and sacrifice,

Though we fear the worst,
Though the news pummels our hope,
Though we long for better things,

Though we have the capacity to become destroyers,
Though the climate seems out of control,
Though we search for justice like lost treasure,

At a time when the Egyptians enslaved the people,
When the Assyrians and Babylonians swaggered,
When the Romans arrived with their crosses,
The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it.
When the one who could change everything
Was pinned on a hill side and left for dead,
When he who had saved others couldn’t seem to save himself,
The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it.
Remind us once more that you are the sure foundation,
The rock that will never crumble or collapse,
A place of safety in the storms and the trials,
The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it.
