‘We have been set free,
like a bird from a hunter’s trap.’
So sings that songster known as the psalmist.
Singing of freedom and those things
which clutch at us and trap us.
Some find freedom quickly,
some over time,
some are still waiting,
and many of us need that release
each day… day after day.
The one with scarred carpenter’s hands
the one who worked with nails,
and then died by them,
has come looking for us.
A different caring ‘hunter’ who searches
high and low for us,
not to set traps… but to set us free from them.
Lord, we pray for those we know, and for ourselves,
help us with the traps we face… bring your freedom please.
Psalm 124 v 7-8
