Lauda had a terrible accident on the track and was engulfed in flames when his car caught fire. His life was in danger, yet forty two days later he was back on the track racing again. His is an incredible story of struggle, perseverance and endurance.
The apostle known as Paul often likened the life of faith to competing in a race. He talked about training and running and keeping going until the end. It’s a great analogy. Running or driving in the race of life is not always glamorous or easy. We get knocked down, we come off the track, we feel like giving up. But Paul encourages us: ‘I run straight to the goal with purpose in every step.’ ‘We are perplexed, but we don’t give up and quit. We get knocked down, but we get up again and keep going.’ (2 Corinthians 4 v 8. 1 Corinthians 9 v 26)

A really great clip Dave. Begs the question of who we run the race for. My son has just completed the Comrades Marathon in S Africa with a time of 7hrs 22 & qualified for a silver medal. He loves running but was spent on this one, totally wiped but an amazing example of commitment to a passion. Ran it with a mate step by step all 57 miles of it. True comrades. Begs the question of who we run with.
